Eligibility

The ATI Programme is open to:
- UK-registered businesses (SMEs and larger companies)
- Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs)
- Universities and academic institutions
Projects must be collaborative, industry-led and demonstrate clear exploitation potential in the UK.

Deadlines and Dates

Expression of Interest (EOI) rounds: January, February, March, May, June 2025
Full stage competitions: April and September 2025

Applicants must submit EOIs before being invited to the full stage.

Assessment

Projects are evaluated on:

Strategic fit with ATI and UK aerospace objectives
Technical innovation and feasibility
Market potential and UK economic return
Quality of consortium and project management

Scope

Projects must deliver tangible benefits to UK aerospace capabilities. Key themes include:

Zero-carbon propulsion: Hydrogen, electric, and hybrid propulsion R&D
Airframe technologies: Lightweight structures, aerodynamics, and new materials
Whole aircraft systems: Integrated systems enabling efficiency and reduced emissions
Aviation sustainability: R&D supporting net-zero targets for UK aerospace

Funding and Costs

Project size: Typically £1m to £20m+
Funding split: Jointly funded by government and industry (cost-sharing model)
