Scope - DRIVE35 Scale-up: Feasibility Studies 2

This competition funds detailed feasibility studies that de-risk and prepare investment-ready cases for UK-based manufacturing facilities for zero-emission vehicle technologies. Your study should develop the evidence required for a go or no-go decision on building or converting facilities in the UK.

Typical scope elements

  • Flow sheet and facility layout for pilot, demonstration or industrial scale manufacturing
  • Compliance and operations planning including HSE, quality, and workforce needs
  • Robust commercialisation plan covering route to market, supply chain and buyers
  • Detailed cost and financial models for development, capex, opex and unit economics
  • A complete business case that can secure private investment and, where appropriate, future public co-funding

Technologies can include on-vehicle systems, batteries and their wider supply chain, power electronics, motors and drives, hydrogen storage, and enabling manufacturing capabilities that advance the UK ZEV ecosystem.

  • Total competition funding: £5 million
  • Per project grant request: £150,000 to £750,000

What stood out was their proactive in-year review process. This approach has meant that we are now months ahead on our next claim, as the technical information has already been obtained during the year. This ensures our future claims are based on up-to-date and more reliable technical data, giving us even greater assurance.
